Friday Dec 5th saw a fine highlight to the end of the year with our Ladies Function. Seventy Three guests attended the night including Masons of our Lodge, other Freemasons, non-masons and all their ladies. It is always a pleasure when the widows of our Past members of the Lodge attend and last night the Lodge was honoured by two widows, Dorothy and Jean who managed to make the event.

The Worshipful Master W.Bro H.P. Ives and Lady Julie took their seats in the centre at top table and welcomed all of the Ladies, Brethren and Gentlemen and wished them a pleasant evening.

The night was very professionally run by the Director Of Ceremonies W.Bro R.C. Moore, and after an excellent meal and fine wine, the toast to the Ladies was given by W.Bro D.A. Hanson and the Ladies song sung by Bro A.D. Alberti.

A fine return speech was given by one of the ladies who thanked the Master and his Lady on behalf of the Ladies for the kind gifts.

The toast to the Master was given by the Senior Warden who commented on the Masters succesful year in Office.

The entertainment was provided by members of a Choral Society who gave two fine performances singing many Festive carols much to the appreciation of the guests.

One of the benefits of having these kind of functions, is that it gives an opportunity for non masons to have a look at some of the things we get up to in Freemasonry. The guests get to see how we have our formal meals and raise money for Charity. There are however, always some people who are a little more curious and like to see what happens in the actual Lodge room itself, so we often take people round the Lodge and explain a little more about who sits where, who does what and answer any questions the best we can .

One of the highlights of the night was that one or two non masonic guests expressed a possible interest in taking their curiosity a little further so we will wait and see what develops there.

To top off a great night, the members of North Worcestershire Lodge No8180, and guests, in true form, dug deep in to their pockets and raised over £400 for the Worshipful Masters Lady Julie's chosen charities.

Our attention now is aimed to February where we will have the installation of our next Master who was duly elected at the meeting prior to the Ladies function. This is always an exciting and busy time for any Lodge as positions change, people move on, there are lots of new ceremonial lines to learn and there are lots of things to start planing for including a ceremony of Initiation and of course next years Ladies function....!
