| 3rd Degree Ceremony for Bro Dann | ||||
On Friday 5th March, the Lodge met for the second meeting of 2010. There were 12 Brethren of the Lodge in attendance with 4 visiting Brethren. The main event of the evening was to Raise Bro Kevin Dann to the Degree of a Master Mason. After a bit of shuffling around for a few offices due to a couple of members being unavoidable absent and a little bit of general Lodge admin, the ceremony of Raising began. The first part of the ceremony was very professionally carried out by the Worshipful Master who then passed the Masters Chair and gavel to the very, very experienced W.Bro C. Woodward, who delivered his part with great confidence and was a pleasure to watch. One point to mention was that during this ceremony, when those masons who were not of the rank of Master Mason (3rd Degree) were asked to leave the Lodge for a short time while the ceremony progressed, it was fantastic to see the experienced Past Master of the Lodge W.Bro E.C. Kettleborough go out with them and spend some time showing them stuff they they will need to know in the future. The Worshipful Master returning to his rightful place in the Lodge completed the ceremony for Bro Dann and after a few items of admin, the Lodge was closed in perfect Harmony. At the Festive Board, much beer and wine was consumed along with a fine meal. As it was he who proposed Bro Dann in to the Lodge, Bro A.D. Alberti presented a Masonic Ritual Book to Bro Kevin to help him learn his ceremonies as he progresses through his Masonic Career. The Raffle was won this time by Bro A.D. Alberti who in true custom of the Lodge (and very reluctantly) put the bottle of Whiskey back in for the next meeting. The Charity Box contained a very modest £210 and a good night was had by all. Congratulations to Bro Kevin on becoming a Master Mason. Until our next merry meeting....!
